A lady came up with a very "smart hacker" to solve the annoying problem of blinds that many of us use in our homes-and it only costs $5.

If you are annoyed by the gap between the roller shutter and the window frame, you are not alone.

Katie Parker of Launceston, Tasmania recently installed gray shutters on the windows of her living room, but there is only one problem-"a gap."

But the cunning mother of four came up with a $5 Bunnings solution, saying that she solved it in only two hours.

"I tried to find a way to hide them, and I won't stop until I did it," she told news.com.au with a smile.

"The first thing I thought about was to use metal. But it was too expensive, so I went to Bunnings and just looked around until I found something suitable."

Ms. Pyke used two PVC molds, and a window cost $10.60 ($5.30 each).

Ms. Parker said: "I also used a can of spray paint primer to cover four molds, equivalent to two of my windows."

"The adhesive primer is $38.60, but I already have it in my house, which may fill six houses."

However, there are also cheaper options, such as Bunnings' Dulux Duramax, which sells for $13.50.

Ms. Parker said to plug the gap, she cut the PVC molded product into the size of a window frame.

"Then I used an adhesive primer and spray painted them black," she said.

"Then I screwed them onto the window frame. I believe the double-sided tape will also work well."

She shared her affordable "hack" to the popular Facebook group Bunnings Mums, Inspiration, Hacks, Tips And Tricks, and added that she was "very satisfied" with the results.

"Just want to share a little trick I made with roller blinds. I don't like the small gaps they leave on both sides, so I thought about how to cover them without spending an arm and a leg," she said. Wrote in her post before describing her method in detail.

Ms. Parker’s post has been “liked” more than 1,500 times, and hundreds of comments from other moms praised her “brilliant” idea.

"Now this is a hacker!" one woman wrote.

"This is a very clever idea, and it can also keep the blinds tidy," said the second person.

"Good job, blinds are always a problem," another added, and a fourth commented: "Good idea. I also hate gaps. I always feel that someone is watching from the other side."

A professional cleaner shared why you should always use a vacuum cleaner after she finds dirt that may be lurking under the mattress.

Tigga Maccormack, a Melbourne-based cake maker, found a way to make a $10 cake stand with Kmart merchandise, and TikTok was in trouble.
